ASPO - Integrating a Formative Framework to Enhance Student Learning
Class Description & Purpose:
This session is designed to give participants an opportunity to consider the formative practices established by Jan Chappuis that were created to help students answer the questions, “Where am I Going?” “Where am I now?” and “How do I close the gap?” The seven strategies outlined by Chappuis will be used as a framework that will allow educators to consider what the strategy is, its relevance to the classroom, and how to integrate it into the classroom to enhance learning.
Note: Participants may find this session more valuable if they have the ability to collaborate with a colleague and/or team.
Self-reflect on their formative practice.
Familiarize themselves with an overview of a framework for a formative practice.
Explore practices aligned to the formative framework.
Peruse a bank of resources to consider how to integrate formative practice.
- Integrate formative practices into an instructional unit/lesson.
Introductory - Getting started in an area, examples of possible entry points for implementation, foundational components of a practice/strategy, or big picture thinking around a practice/strategy.
