Class Description & Purpose:

In this targeted, interactive class for elementary teachers, participants will have the opportunity to explore how differentiated word study can be embedded into a balanced literacy framework in the elementary grades. Participants will begin to intentionally plan for word study opportunities within their balanced literacy framework.

Purpose: Support the implementation of differentiated word study, an essential component of a balanced literacy framework.

Outcomes:
  • Determine and explore processes, activities, and resources to use for high impact, differentiated instruction in the area of word study
  • Create authentic, engaging, hands on opportunities for students to interact with words, independently and with teacher support, as they continue to expand word knowledge
