Class Purpose:

Participants will have the opportunity to evaluate the purpose, impact, and structure of modeled writing instruction to be used within a balanced literacy framework. Participants will analyze the essential components of effective modeled writing instruction as a support to increase literacy development and intentionally plan for modeled writing in their classrooms.

Outcomes: 
  • Analyze components of quality modeled writing instruction and independent writing opportunities

  • Consider how to implement modeled and independent writing into your balanced literacy curriculum

Takeaway(s):

Create an action plan related to implementing modeling and independent writing into your balanced literacy curriculum

Refined - Practices/strategies at a deeper level of implementation. These classes may offer a new way of thinking and inspiration to implement practices and strategies to refine teaching and learning.
