Class Description & Purpose:
Exploring the concepts of curiosity and cognition as it relates to students motivations in classrooms is at the heart of this brain, mind education class. Learn tips and tricks to create curious students who become, “intrinsically motivated and extrinsically supported,” (Juliani).
- Explore ways to increase curiosity and cognitive flexibility
- Collaborate to determine ways teachers can encourage students learning in a variety of ways
- Develop deliberate supports to substantiate deep learning for transfer and sustainable learning through metacognitive and self-monitoring
Develop a passion project template for students that compels students to explore areas of interest within a content theme to showcase intrinsic motivation and practice the development of their cognitive executive functioning skills.
Reimagined - Practices/strategies that embody out of the box thinking, high-level 21st Century learning opportunities, or authentic and collaborative experiences for students.
